When Snow Shed closed, this wasn’t simply the loss of another retail store. Long Island lost a ski shop that had been part of the local winter-sports community for years.

Before closing, Snow Shed owner Chad specifically asked Sno-Haus to look after the customers who had trusted his shop. We take that responsibility seriously, and we’re honored to welcome Snow Shed skiers and snowboarders to Sno-Haus.

For eligible customers who completed a seasonal rental with Snow Shed during the 2025/26 season, Sno-Haus is offering one basic seasonal ski or snowboard package with a $0 rental charge for the 2026/27 season.

But the offer is about more than a free rental.

It is our way of welcoming Snow Shed customers into another locally rooted ski shop and helping keep Long Island ski culture strong for the next generation.

Two Long Island Ski Shops, One Community

Specialty ski shops have always played an important role in Long Island’s ski culture.

We may not have mountains in our backyard, but generations of Long Islanders have grown up making winter trips to the Catskills, Vermont, New Hampshire, upstate New York, Pennsylvania, and beyond. Local ski shops are where many of those trips begin.

They are where a child gets fitted for a first pair of boots. Where families pick up seasonal rentals before heading north. Where someone learns why their feet hurt in their ski boots. Where skis get tuned before a long weekend. And where skiers and riders can talk to people who understand the equipment and the sport.

Snow Shed was part of that tradition. 

When Chad asked us to take care of Snow Shed customers, we saw a chance to help preserve the kind of local ski community that specialty shops like Snow Shed and Sno-Haus have built on Long Island for decades.

A New Home for Snow Shed Customers

If Snow Shed was part of your family’s winter routine, our goal is to make the transition to Sno-Haus feel easy.

Come into Sno-Haus Huntington, meet our team, get professionally fitted, and see what we do.

Our team works with skiers and snowboarders throughout the season, from the first fitting in the fall to midwinter adjustments, tuning, repairs, equipment questions, and preparation for the next trip.

For qualifying Snow Shed customers, the seasonal rental promotion gives you an opportunity to experience Sno-Haus for a season without paying the normal rental charge for an eligible basic package.

Get Fitted Here Before You Get to the Mountain

One of the biggest advantages of renting locally is simple: you can deal with equipment and fit before your ski trip begins.

Instead of arriving at the mountain and spending the first part of the day sorting through rental equipment, Sno-Haus seasonal renters can get fitted on Long Island and arrive ready to ski or ride.

At Sno-Haus, rental equipment is fitted to the skier or snowboarder’s current size. We don’t simply assume that last year’s setup is still right—especially for growing junior skiers and riders.

Eligible Snow Shed customers can also receive midseason size exchanges when needed, subject to qualifying rental inventory.

That matters when a child grows during the winter or when the original fit needs to be revisited.

Your Rental Shop Can Also Be Your Ski Shop

The free seasonal rental may introduce you to Sno-Haus, but we hope the relationship continues long after this promotion ends.

Sno-Haus is a full-service ski and snowboard shop. That means you have somewhere local to turn when your needs change during the season.

• Seasonal ski and snowboard rentals: Junior and adult packages fitted locally before your trip.
• Boot fitting: In-person help with ski and snowboard boot fit, sizing, and adjustments.
• Tuning and repair: Waxing, edge work, mounting, adjustments, and workshop service.
• Skis and snowboards: Equipment for customers ready to move from renting into their own setup.
• Helmets, goggles, outerwear, gloves, and accessories: Help putting together the rest of your winter setup.
• Real ski-shop advice: A place to ask questions before a trip instead of trying to solve everything at the mountain.

Sno-Haus has been helping Long Island families prepare for winter since 1959.

Today, Sno-Haus serves skiers and snowboarders through stores in Huntington, Greenvale, and Hempstead. All three locations are part of the same Long Island winter-sports community and offer seasonal rentals, boot fitting, equipment, and workshop service.

The special Snow Shed rental promotion itself is handled through Sno-Haus Huntington, but we hope Snow Shed customers come to think of all of Sno-Haus as a resource for many winters ahead.
